Meta Fined $1.3 Billion By EU Regulators For User Data Transfers To The U.S.

Meta was fined a record $1.3 billion by European regulators for transferring EU user data to the U.S.

The European Union suspected that the user data of European users users were being infringed by the tech giant as they transferred the data to the U.S., raising privacy concerns.

The Irish Data Protection Commission told Meta to halt any future data transfers of personal data to American-based systems.

The $1.3 billion fine marks the largest fine that a company has faced for violating the GDPR, a title previously held by Amazon.
