After a significant period of disagreement among the house, Kevin McCarthy is elected the 55th Speaker on Saturday early morning.
In a tense moment on Friday night, Kevin McCarthy confronted Matt Gaetz of Florida and Lauren Boebert of Colorado. However, the two still refused to vote for Kevin and rather said "present" to reduce the amount of votes needed for Kevin McCarthy to take his position. He won with 216 votes.
Kevin McCarthy personally thanked President Donald Trump after his win for his support and endorsement throughout his run.
