Hunter Biden, son of sitting U.S. President Joe Biden, is expected to plead guilty on a federal case for a 'years-long' investigation on his illegal tax affairs and possession of firearm(s) while addicted to a controlled (potentially illegal) substance.
The U.S. District Attorney for the State of Delaware David C. Weiss said that Hunter Biden "received taxable income in excess of $1,500,000 annually in calendar years 2017 and 2018". "Despite owing in excess of $100,000 in federal income taxes for each year, he did not pay the income tax due for either year", Weiss said Tuesday.
Weiss also states that "Hunter Biden possessed a firearm despite knowing he was an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance".
According to Weiss, Hunter could face a maximum penalty of 2 years in prison for tax charges and maximum of 10 years in prison for the firearm charges.
