At Least 280 People Killed & Nearly 1000 Injured After 3 Trains Collide In Odisha, India

At least 280 people killed and hundreds injured after three trains crash in India's Odisha region on Friday evening. 

Two passenger trains and one industrial train collided in the city of Balasore, in the state of Odisha. 

Local authorities confirm that rescue teams and firefighters have been dispatched to the site in large quantities.

One of the passenger trains involved in the crash is a Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel express, carrying passengers from West Bengal. The train travels through the east coast of India to the southern state of Chennai. 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences to the victims and the those close to the victims, saying he is 'Distressed by the train accident in Odisha" and that "all possible assistance is being given to those affected".
