On Friday, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of committing war crimes in Ukraine.
Putin was accused of the alleged abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, the court pointed out.
The court, based in Netherlands claims that Putin "bears individual criminal responsibility" for the alleged crimes that he was accused of committing in Ukraine.
Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the ICC, said "We must ensure that those responsible for alleged crimes are held accountable and that children are returned to their families and communities", he said.
Putin's press secretary Dmitriy Peskov rejected the accusations, saying "We do not recognize this court, we do not recognize the jurisdiction of this court".
