Spotify announced Monday that it will cut 6% of its workforce to reduce costs, joining other tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
CEO Daniel Ek, wrote a letter to employees, stating that the layoffs are "difficult but necessary".
The 6% cut of workforce is about 600 in terms of headcount, out of the ~9800 total workers.
The CEO stressed the importance of "efficiency" and "great progress" in a Monday blog post and is expected to make more comments on the decision.
